From a speech today in Indiana:
“I know the governor of Alaska has been, you know, saying she is change,” Obama said at a town hall meeting here. “And that is great. She is a skillful politician. But when you [have] been taking all these earmarks when it is convenient and then suddenly you are the champion anti-earmark person.
“That is not change, come on,” Obama continued. “I mean, words mean something. You can’t just make stuff up. You can’t just make stuff up. We have a choice to make and the choice is clear.”

I'm really glad to see Obama (and Biden earlier) hitting back against the GOP for a.) having nothing of substance to say; and b.) making things up. I think the "Palin is not a real reformer" line of attack is going to bear fruit for the dems, because her story, as rolled out in the GOP convention, has so many holes in it. Whatever she may have actually done to take on the Stevens/Murkowski machine in AK is going to be overshadowed by the misrepresentations made by Palin and on her behalf about earmarks, the bridge to nowhere, the private jet, etc. Also, these attacks are the most damaging to the core brand that she and McCain are trying to sell- that they're experienced reformers of corrupt government.
